What is the best software for music production?
You may ask yourself the question when you are starting out, just like I did.
The best DAW is the DAW that you feel the most comfortable with. But Which DAW is that?
In this video I`ll try to help you to answer that question.
I take a look at FL Studio, Logic Pro X, Ableton Live, Pro Tools and Studio One.

What is the best software for music production?
You may have asked yourself the question, like i did.
In the video I’ll discuss some things that can help you choosing your DAW

[2]
What is the best DAW?
The answer to that question may surprise you.

I want to give a shoutout to Pianogy for a very insightful comment in my video about RAM for music production.
He basically said that sampled instruments are taking up more memory than non sampled synthesizers
Thank you for that comment
Also If you can add something useful to the video for other viewers, don’t hesitate to do so in the comments

[5]
What is the best DAW?
I’ll start with the question answer it immediately.
The best daw is the daw of your preference where you can work the quickest and most comfortable with.
I can’t tell you which DAW to use, but I can give you some guidelines and examples on choosing the best DAW for you.

[6]
Don’t listen to anyone else who says you need to work with ….
Every DAW has its strengths weaknesses.
I can’t tell you which DAW is the best.
If there was one DAW that was the best for everyone, everybody would use it.

[7]
There are a couple of different DAWs out there.
I will name a few, starting off with the bigger ones:
FL Studio
Logic Pro X
Ableton Live
Pro Tools

[8]
Less famous are:
Studio One
Reaper
Cubase
But there are other DAWS out there

[9]
FL studio started out as Fruity Loops.
In 2018 they released a Mac version. So it is available on Windows and Mac.
FL studio has a bit of an image problem, because a lot of producers don’t take the software seriously.
FL studio does things differently and that’s why a lot of people don’t like it.
It has also the image of being free, but I have yet to come across a legal free version.
To be honest I have never tried the software, so I cant really say much useful about it
But when I look at the price of the full version, 900 euro, I think you have better alternatives for less money.
What i saw from youtube movies you can easily make drum patterns with the built-in drum sequencer.
[9A]
-Fruity loops
-2018 mac version
[9B]
-image not seriously -> things differently
-image free
[9C]
-delphi, never as fast as programmed in C, like any other software.
[9D]
-never tried
-youtube: drum sequencer
-full version 900,-

[10]
Logic Pro X I know pretty well, I started out producing in Logic and took producing classes in Logic.
It is only available on Mac and the cheapest most complete of the big DAWs.
There is only version that is speced out to the max and it is complete for 200 euro
The 3 biggest problems I have with Logic are the bugs, that you can’t search for plugins and presets and the message when the cpu is maxed out
If you want a more detailed review of Logic? leave a message in the comment section, maybe I can make a video about it
[10A]
-know well
-cheapest complete
-one version
-3 problems: bugs, search plugins/presents, message when cpu maxed out
-detailed review of logic? comments!

Ableton Live, or Ableton as many people call it.
I think this is the most used software by EDM producers.

[11B]
In my search for a new DAW I tried the software and I like it.
I like the plugins on the bottom of the screen, I like the editor. Studio one has the same editing style I really like.
I like the live aspect which many DAWs lack

[11 C]
I don’t like the automation
I don’t like the track fold, zooming. It’s too big or too small.

[11D]
telefoon

[11E]
1985 called, they want their user interface back
about 600 euro full version

[12]
Pro tools
I don’t even consider this a serious option for a beginner.
You need a hardware or software key for that called iLok.
They charge you 900 euros a year excluding VAT, only for updates.
Also they are far behind the competition when it comes to features
The one and ONLY reason why you want to use pro tools, is because it is used by professional recording studios.

[13]
I use studio One
I choose Studio one because for me it has the least weaknesses, but it is DEFINITELY not the best DAW out there
Because the slowing down of the GUI when your project get CPU heavier is unforgivable
Also the way sidechains work is unnessary complicated.

[13B]
If you want a more in depth review about studio one, let me know in the comments

[14]
You can download trial versions of most DAWs.
Logic is an exception to that rule.
And even Studio One has a full functioning version for free.

[15]
Most DAWs have a Mac and a Windows version
Again, Logic is an exception to that rule.

[16]
But choose 1 DAW and just start, just pick one and try to learn it
Just starting out in 1 DAW is more important then picking the right one.
If you know how the basics of one DAW you can apply that to the next.
If you choose one DAW and you are unhappy with your choice you can later switch to another one.

[17]
Does one DAW suits better a music genre or not?
I dont see why. The basics are the same. The way you are getting there is different maybe.
You can produce hits with every DAW
There are produced hits in every DAW.

[18]
Does one DAW Sound better than the other.
Yes. But the differences are so small in my opinion
And again, there are hits produced in almost every DAW
